HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is an enzyme complex naturally made in the body during pregnancy. It allows the body to mobilize fat and use it as energy. This is important during pregnancy to provide nutrients to the pregnant woman and her fetus when they need immediate energy. For weight loss, we use a very small amount of HCG to get this same mechanism of fat stores mobilization. One thing that makes HCG unique as a weight loss tool is that is selectively mobilizes “abnormal” fat stores. These stores are often in hard to reduce areas such as the buttocks, abdomen, and thighs. Most weight loss programs don’t differiante between abnormal and essential fat stores. This means that you often loss the fat that pad organs which are needed for proper body functioning.

There are a short and long courses of the HCG protocol. Short courses (6 weeks including 21 days taking HCG) are designed for people with 15 or less pounds to lose. The Long course (10 weeks including 45 days taking HCG) is for people needing to lose more than 15 pounds. Both courses are made up of four phases.
· Phase 1: Occurs before HCG injections begin. Will consist of preparing the body for the actual HCG diet and for long-term success. It will also introduce you to environmental factors that affect your weight and health.
· Phase 2: Take HCG while eating VLCD (very low calorie diet of 500 calories)
o Short Course – 21 days of HCG and 23 days of VLCD
o Long Course – 45 days of HCG and 48 days of VLCD
· Phase 3 – 3 weeks post-HCG. HCG injection will have stopped and you will resume a normal caloric intake but strictly avoid starches and sugars for the entire 3 weeks.
· Phase 4 – Life Maintenance
